So far Natalie and I have done:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Draculas month<\/strong>, featuring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Dracula<\/em> (1931). The One with Bela Lugosi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Dracula&#8217;s Daughter<\/em> (1936)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Dracula<\/em> (1958). Lee\/Cushing, delightful<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires<\/em> (1974). Hammer Horror and Hong Kong martial arts crossover.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Bram Stoker&#8217;s Dracula<\/em> (1992). has also inspired a different project, &#8220;watch every film costumed or designed by Eiko Ishioka&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Zombies month<\/strong>, featuring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Night of the Living Dead<\/em> (1968)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Dawn of the Dead<\/em> (1978)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Day of the Dead<\/em> (1985)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Evil Dead II<\/em> (1987). watching <em>Evil Dead<\/em> in the Draculas year inspired the zombie theme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>One Cut of the Dead<\/em> (2017)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Aliens month<\/strong> (ongoing this year!), featuring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Alien<\/em> (1979)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Aliens<\/em> (1986)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Invasion of the Body Snatchers<\/em> (1956)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Invasion of the Body Snatchers<\/em> (1978)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>The Thing from Another World<\/em> (1951)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>The Thing<\/em> (1982)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So here&#8217;s where you come in: what are some important themes we could do? What goes on those lists? I&#8217;m largely looking for The Big Ones (like the Romero trilogy, <em>Alien<\/em>, <em>Dracula<\/em>, stuff like that), but give me any sleeper hits you think really should not be missed and what theme they go with. I don&#8217;t do great with loving depictions of torture or human-on-human violence, but if you think there&#8217;s something I <em>really<\/em> shouldn&#8217;t miss for cultural reasons, recommend it and let me know whether I should prepare myself going in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Future themes we&#8217;re rotating in our minds include: <strong>Vampires<\/strong> (non-Dracula edition), <strong>Ghosts<\/strong> (<em>The Shining<\/em>, <em>Poltergeist<\/em>, etc),<em> <\/em><strong>Horror Comedy<\/strong> (things like <em>Evil Dead<\/em> would go here), <strong>Witches<\/strong>, and <strong>Werewolves<\/strong>. Any major categories we missed?
